Jason Goss
Author | Founder of Hot Goss Innovations
Jason Goss founded HGI in 2020 after his time in the Australian Army, driven by a genuine passion for uncrewed systems and a need to keep learning, building, and pushing his skills further. That path led him deep into 3D printing and CAD design, into the fast moving world of FPV flight, and into developing a hands on understanding of drones that you do not get from a classroom. At HGI, experience is not something we talk about. It is what we deliver.

HGI specialises in UAS and Counter UAS consultancy and training design, working with major defence contractors and large organisations on complex capability challenges.Â

Jason’s background as a TUAS Flight Instructor in the Australian Army brings real operational depth. This is not theory. It is built on years of hands on work, problem solving in real environments, and a genuine commitment to advancing Australian capability in the UAS space.

He has designed introduction to service training programs, supported international primes entering the Australian market, and consistently delivered solutions that make complex systems practical and usable.

That same mindset is what led Jason, now Chief Drone Pilot and Experimental Test and Evaluation assessor, to write his FPV drone book. It is a straight talking, experience first guide for anyone stepping into FPV flight. No fluff. No overcomplication. Just the kind of knowledge that comes from actually doing the work.

Whether you are here for consultancy or the book, you are in the right place. This is someone who has put in the hours and is still pushing forward.
BOOKS AUTHORED BY JASON

The FPV Drone Handbook was written with one goal in mind: to give every beginner the foundation they need to build, program, and fly their own FPV drone, confidently, safely, and without needing to piece together information from a dozen different YouTube videos and online forums.
FPV (First-Person View) drones are genuinely exciting. The technology is accessible, the community is passionate, and the learning curve, while real, is absolutely conquerable with the right guide. This book is that guide.
Who this book is for:
This book is written for complete beginners. No prior experience with electronics, soldering, or aviation is assumed. Whether you are a teenager building your first drone, a parent supporting a child's new hobby, or an adult looking to develop a technical skill from scratch, this book will meet you where you are and take you somewhere worth going.
It is also useful for intermediate pilots who have been flying for a while but want to fill the gaps in the foundational knowledge that most video tutorials skip over.
