Kalkatunga "Kalka" Mitchell is a proud Aboriginal man of Kalkadoon descent whose life has been shaped by adversity, resilience and an unwavering commitment to helping others.
A former Aboriginal Police Liaison Officer, Kalka has dedicated decades to mentoring young people, men and women through some of the most difficult periods of their lives. His work has taken him into youth detention centres, watch houses throughout South East Queensland and correctional facilities, where he has become known for his direct, honest and compassionate approach to creating lasting change.
As the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Deadly Trainers, Kalka has transformed thousands of lives by combining physical health with mental resilience. His work as a body transformation specialist has earned national recognition, including features in Diabetes Australia magazine and on NITV. He was also nominated for the Global Weight Loss Federation's High Achievement of Excellence Award for his outstanding contribution to improving health outcomes.
In 2026, the Courier Mail recognised Kalka as one of Brisbane's Top 40 Most Inspirational Men, acknowledging his lifelong commitment to empowering others to rise above trauma, take responsibility for their future and build meaningful legacies.
In Forged Not Broken, Kalka shares his own journey with unflinching honesty. From childhood abuse and religious control to violence, addiction, heartbreak and ultimately healing, his story is a powerful reminder that while we cannot choose what happens to us, we can choose who we become.
Today, Kalka continues to inspire audiences across Australia through keynote speaking, mentoring and community leadership, proving that even the deepest scars can become the foundation for strength, purpose and hope.
